TECHNICAL THEATRE 1
This course is designed to provide students with knowledge and understanding of technical theatre. Technical Theatre I is a project based class within the theatrical arts curriculum focusing on the design process. It is not a shop class. This course focuses on the 6 areas of theatrical design. Students will learn lighting basics, audio design, effective make-up application, costume design and construction techniques, scenic design, and publicity and marketing design and techniques. We will also cover basic theatre history and play analysis. Students desiring to excel in skills related to technical theatre are welcome to participate in activities occurring outside of the academic school day.
ADVANCED TECHNICAL THEATRE (2, 3, 4)
This course is designed to provide students with knowledge and understanding of technical theatre. Technical Theatre 2, 3, and 4 are project based classes within the theatrical arts curriculum focusing on the design and construction process. This course focuses on the practical application and construction of theatrical design. Students will learn lighting technology, audio technology, effective make-up application, costume design and construction techniques, scenic design and construction, publicity and marketing techniques, and shop and power tool safety. Students in this course have the option to compete in the UIL Theatrical Design competition as well as participate in activities occurring outside of the academic school day.
